Canada, China plot course for more oil, gas and uranium exports

Canada could boost exports of oil, natural gas and uranium to China under an agreement the two countries signed Thursday during Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Beijing.
The memorandum of understanding on “strengthening energy co-operation” comes amid rising petroleum exports to Canada from China. Chinese companies have taken delivery of liquefied natural gas from Canada’s first LNG export facility in 2025 and have ramped up purchases of Canadian oil over the last year.
Chief Adam MacIntosh was sworn in Tuesday, promising to modernize the force with body cameras and focus on officer mental health to ensure better community service.

The City is moving forward with the expansion and renovation of the Alexander Community Centre in the Carlington community and is looking for feedback.
Over the past several years, residents have provided input on how the centre should grow to better serve the community. Based on previous public consultations, a design has now been selected. The expansion will include a new full-size gymnasium, improved multipurpose spaces and upgrades to accessibility and community areas.
