Mariposa Festival co-founder Ruth Jones-McVeigh gave an enduring gift to Canadian music

On July 11, 2010, in Orillia, Ont., the folk duo of Ian Tyson and Sylvia Tyson reunited at the Mariposa Folk Festival for a surprise performance of their melancholic Canadiana classic Four Strong Winds. Watching the former husband and wife harmonize on the ballad about a failed romantic relationship, 83-year-old Ruth Jones-McVeigh had a tear in her eye.
She wasn’t alone.
Four of the five candidates said they are running to rebuild the party, while Tony McQuail was the lone candidate who said he is eyeing the Prime Minister's Office.
