Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. January 22nd, 2026

January 22, 2026

A recent issue with the LRT trains has reduced Ottawa’s Line 1 service until further notice. Apologies have been issued, but transit riders are seeking action. Should the City of Ottawa take emergency measures to fix our transit system? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, over 1,000 Health Canada employees have been notified that their jobs may be affected by this year’s changes. This comes as federal departments continue to issue notices about potential layoffs within the public service. We chat with Nate Prier, the President of the Canadian Association of Professional Employees. Plus, a recommendation is being made to Algonquin College’s Board of Governors, which would cut 30 additional programs if it receives approval. Joining us in Hour 3 is Judy Puritt, the First Vice-President of OPSEU Local 415. They represent nearly 900 faculty members at Algonquin College.
