Overnight wind chill triggers warnings across eastern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued cold warnings across eastern Ontario as temperatures plunge and the wind chill could make it feel like –35 on Thursday night.

Ontario is examining legislation that would allow special constables to arrest and ticket drug users. Today, Ottawa City Council has voted 17-7 to endorse that legislation. It would also expand present-day enforcement powers to OC Transpo special constables, who would be able to arrest and fine people using drugs on public transit. The motion was moved by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stéphanie Plante. She joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
