7 Toronto men arrested after violent home invasion left homeowner dead: Peel police

February 2, 2026

Peel Regional Police have announced that seven Toronto men have been arrested and charged in connection with a 2024 crime that began as a home invasion and ended up with one man dead.

On Oct. 1, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers responded to shots fired at a residence in the area of Central Parkway West and Confederation Parkway in Mississauga, Ont. It is alleged that four masked individuals entered the home and confronted the occupants, demanding money and valuables.

During the confrontation, one of the homeowners, 55-year-old Ruo Zhou Wei, was shot and later died of his injuries in hospital. The suspects then fled in a vehicle later identified as a white Volkswagen Atlas.

“What began as a violent home invasion quickly evolved into a complex homicide investigation,” said deputy chief Nick Milinovich in a statement to media. “Investigators from the homicide bureau worked tirelessly piecing together evidence, tracking suspects, and uncovering a wider network of individuals believed to be involved.”

The investigation included extensive canvassing across more than 80 kilometres, forensic analysis and judicial authorizations to identify the suspects and others believed to be complicit.

“Ultimately, their efforts led to the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of seven men from Toronto who now face serious charges,” said Milinovich. “This investigation reflects the dedication of our officers and the critical support of our government partners in ensuring investigations like this are properly resourced and those responsible for horrific crimes are held accountable.”

On Monday, police reported that a firearm was seized and seven men, all from Toronto, were arrested and held in custody pending bail on a variety of charges. They are:

Sonam Wangchuk, 25, Muhammad Rahimullah, 21, and Tenzin Lama, 21, all charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder using a firearm; Kang Lu, 69, Kwok Chik, 65, and Xi Chen, 64, all charged with manslaughter; and Tenzin Jungney, 21, charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Milinovich thanked the Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario and the Ministry of the Solicitor General for their assistance in the investigation.

“It is an example of the great work we can accomplish when we are properly resourced; finding criminals, holding them accountable, and making sure they’re brought to justice for their actions,” he said. “These crimes cause profound and lasting trauma for families, and undermine our community’s sense of safety. Every resident deserves to feel safe and secure in their home.”
