Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. February 4th, 2026

February 4, 2026

Ottawa native Rachel Homan is heading back to the Winter Olympics, leading the Canadian Women to battle for the first time since 2018. We chat with Alex Birtwistle, who is the President of the Ottawa Curling Club, in Hour 2. And then, we share the inspirational story of 61-year-old business advisor Ted Wagstaff. A loving husband and a father to 3 kids, his life changed significantly last Spring. During what seemed to be a normal business trip, severe stomach cramps kept waking him up. A series of tests eventually pointed to a rare and aggressive subtype of cancer known as double-hit lymphoma. Thanks to a portable pump, Ted’s cancer is now in remission.
