Ontario is examining legislation that would allow special constables to arrest and ticket drug users. Today, Ottawa City Council has voted 17-7 to endorse that legislation. It would also expand present-day enforcement powers to OC Transpo special constables, who would be able to arrest and fine people using drugs on public transit. The motion was moved by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stéphanie Plante. She joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
