Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will leave the possibility of amalgamation of cities and towns in the Niagara region up to local mayors, though he believes there are too many politicians in the area and something must be done. The idea of amalgamation has divided the area's 12 mayors, but Ford says he will ultimately side with the majority.
The province says a workplace safety investigation into the death of a Halifax Walmart worker who died in a bakery oven 16 months ago found no safety violations.
