Ottawa Now - Rideau-Vanier councillor relieved that OSTA is addressing a long-standing issue

February 27, 2026

Five new areas in Canada’s Capital have been designated as ‘community hazard zones’ by the OSTA. As part of the incoming changes, bus service will be extended to roughly 60 additional students who live within the newly identified zones. One of these new areas is located in Lowertown, near Rideau Street and King Edward Avenue. It is represented at City Hall by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante, who is proud to see that this long-standing request in her ward is finally being addressed.
