Ottawa Now - 'Devastated': Professors react to another round of gut-punching cuts at Algonquin College

For a second straight year, the Algonquin College Board of Governors has approved a significant series of programming cuts. This time, 30 programs have been halted. Monday’s judgement day comes as the Ottawa-based post-secondary institution continues to grapple with funding shortfalls and a decline in International enrollment. Judy Puritt, the first Vice-President of OPSEU Local 415, represents roughly 900 of Algonquin’s faculty members. She also teaches Business Communications at the college, and joins Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.
The 19-year-old man accused in the death of Ottawa crossing guard Peter Clark has been charged with failing to stop after a fatal accident, according to Ottawa police.
