Hour 4 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. March 5th, 2026

March 5, 2026

A councillor in Ottawa’s East End has been found guilty of all charges after police found him drunk behind the wheel in 2024. Taking responsibility for his actions today, Matthew Luloff has been sentenced to a 1-year driving ban, a punishment that also includes paying a pair of significant fines. And in a lengthy statement, Luloff remains committed to serving the riding that elected him into office. CTV’s Katie Griffin delivers the details. Meantime, a new survey shows that more Canadians are relying on credit to put food on the table, and some are willing to put meals on the backburner if it means saving enough cash. Gillian Goldblatt, a Licensed Insolvency Trustee at Spergel, pays us a visit in Hour 4. And finally, we examine tonight’s CTV Ottawa supper-hour newscast with Jackie Perez.
