Premier David Eby says a proposed new law creating 20-metre protection zones is in response to a 'disturbing trend' of protests that intimidate people attending churches, synagogues, temples and other places of worship.
Seattle, which is also hosting, has rolled out an emergency plan to move some encampments and expand shelter and housing space ahead of the tournament.
