Cuts to prison libraries at federal institutions violates human rights: advocates

The Correctional Service of Canada is finalizing plans to cut all prison librarian positions at federal institutions, in a move that advocates say violates human rights and will actively harm efforts to rehabilitate prisoners.

Social services minister Jason Nixon said this program wasn't seeing the results other programs were and the decision was made to move the money where it would be better used.
