Suspended doctor faces 28 new sex-crime charges, including sexual touching of minors

Suspended physician David Edward-Ooi Poon has been charged with 28 more sex crimes this week, for a total of 71 alleged offences. Toronto police now accuse the doctor and public health expert with three counts of sexual interference with minors and seven additional counts of sexual assault.

Hospital emergency rooms are overflowing, resulting in patients being treated in storage rooms and hallways as they wait days for a bed. Doctors say it's happening against a backdrop of behind-the-scenes backlogs, access issues and an aging population that are all impacting the flow of patients through the health-care system.
