Here in Canada's Capital, gas prices could reach $1.80 per litre by the end of this week. And according to Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague, that price tag could soon soar to $2.00 per litre in Toronto, as the Iran War treads further into Week 4. Over the past few shows, we've heard from cab drivers, pizza delivery drivers, truckers, and several others who drive for a living. For folks in that line of work, it’s getting far too expensive to keep up or get ahead, and it's really hurting their bottom-line. Today, we check in with Baudouin St-Cyr, the Executive Director of Meals On Wheels Ottawa.
As a gas tax break comes down the pipe from Ottawa, the summer blend of gas means prices could still move in the wrong direction for already-stretched motorists.

When it comes to the gender pension gap in Canada, there’s good news, bad news—and caveats.
Over the past fifty years, retirement income has increased for many Canadians. Old Age Security, for example, was indexed to inflation in the early 1970s. So was the Guaranteed Income Supplement. And in 1976, 34.3 percent of women aged sixty-five and older were defined as low income (after paying taxes) compared to 17.5 percent in 2022. This is a striking improvement, but it still accounted for some 700,000 women as of that year, a number which will be higher today.
