Ottawa Now - Councillor Brown calls for private bus service in rural sections of Canada's Capital

April 2, 2026

In his neck of the woods, Rideau-Jock councillor David Brown says transit service is spotty, and he wants to examine transit options beyond OC Transpo. That’s why he is calling for a private bus service in rural sections of Canada’s Capital. He finds it frustrating that buses from Russell, Carleton Place, and Smiths Falls pass right through Rural Ottawa without ever making a single stop. In his mind, the current one-size-fits-all approach isn’t fixing nearly enough of today’s problems, and that we need to shift to a more regional gameplan to better accommodate our city’s growing communities. Brown joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
