The building that once housed Yangtze Restaurant in Ottawa’s Chinatown neighbourhood remains empty, as the property owner continues to search high and low for a new tenant. Yangtze permanently shuttered its doors in 2024 and the building has been dead-silent ever since. It comes as the Somerset Chinatown BIA issues an urgent call, with the neighbourhood in desperate need of an anchor business to host big events. The Canada Revenue Agency is refunding approximately $647 million collected as a result of the now-defunct digital services tax.
