Three years after clergy-abuse case settled for $10M, victims still haven’t been paid

More than 60 victims of sexual abuse by clergy from what is now the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth are still waiting to be paid from a settlement that was approved in November 2022. Some are growing frustrated with the delays and what they view as a lack of information.
Claire Elyse Brosseau wants to end her life, but under current Canadian legislation she’s not eligible for medical assistance in dying because she only suffers from mental illnesses. Next year, that’s supposed to change — though the federal government has already delayed twice.
