Hour 4 of Ottawa Now for Mon. May 4th, 2026

May 4, 2026

A driver is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act after a pedestrian was struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of Laurier Avenue and O’Connor Street, where the vehicle left the roadway and then crashed into a building after striking the pedestrian. And now, we are learning more about the off-duty firefighter that was credited with saving the pedestrian's life. CTV’s Katie Griffin joins us in Hour 4. Meantime, we have new developments about Canada's next Governor General, who will be introduced to the media tomorrow. What type of traits could Carney be looking for? CTV's Judy Trinh has more on that. And if news breaks in real time, you’ll hear it live on CFRA’s Ottawa Now.
