Ottawa Now - Ontario projected to lose more than one-third of International student population

May 8, 2026

Ontario is set to lose more than 33 percent of the International student population because of Canada’s student permit cap. It was introduced by the Trudeau Liberals in January of 2024. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Rob Kristofferson, the President of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations.
