One of Canada's largest battery storage sites officially opens in Napanee

The Napanee Battery Energy Storage System is capable of powering up to 250,000 homes, according to the province. The facility will store electricity from nuclear facilities when demand is low, then pump it back into the system when more power is needed.

The city is hoping to redirect $10 million of provincial money into building a safe and welcoming ByWard Market, including $300,000 to improve the pedestrian underpass at Rideau Street and Sussex Drive.
