Ottawa-Alberta relations took a step forward last week with the signing of an agreement that potentially paves the way for a new oil pipeline to the coast.

The deal gives a timeline on approvals for a pipeline, should a proponent come forward, and allows Alberta and the feds to calm the waters in an at-times testy relationship.

National Post politics reporter Stephanie Taylor joins the show to discuss what went into the deal, what concessions Alberta had to make, and how this squares with the federal government’s push for national projects but also its environmental goals.
