Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. May 20th, 2026

May 20, 2026

Canada’s Capital is getting ready to welcome more than 40,000 participants and 2,500 volunteers over two action-packed days. That’s right, folks! The late-May staple known as Ottawa Race Weekend is back for another year of record-setting feats and inspirational journeys! They’ve sold out every single event – from the Ottawa Half Marathon presented by Desjardins, to the Ottawa 10K presented by Otto’s Ottawa. Sudarshan Gautam will be among the crowd of participants, running as a special guest on the International Marathon circuit. You’ll hear his unique ‘Road to Ottawa’ story in Hour 2. Meantime, the Ottawa Charge survived their Victoria Day marathon against the Montreal Victoire on Monday night. And tonight, they’ll have to do it all again if they want to force a winner-take-all Game 5 on Saturday in Laval. Fortunately, they have one of the PWHL’s best fanbases on their side, who have been fueled by a contagious kazoo chorus all season long. Britt Hurley explains how the movement first started. Plus, we are approaching the 10-year anniversary of the infamous Rideau Street sinkhole. And no, a commemorative event has not been scheduled to remember the car that was sucked into it. CFRA’s Chris Holski has more on that.
