Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Fri. May 22nd, 2026

May 22, 2026

It’s an investigation that could change how you travel. A CTV W5 exclusive is exposing how passengers are unwittingly helping traffickers move massive quantities of drugs through Canadian airports. CTV’s Avery Haines joins Kristy Cameron with the details. Later in Hour 2, we circle back to the 417 lane closures that are wreaking havoc in Ottawa’s West End. Even when all lanes are available near Woodroffe and Pinecrest, congestion is pretty common during rush-hour times of the day. However, the latest closures to allow for LRT signage installations are making driving conditions more tedious, with some motorists adding 20 to 25 minutes to their commute. Bay Ward councillor Theresa Kavanagh pays us a visit with her two cents. Oh, and if you’re heading to Downtown Ottawa in the next 24 to 48 hours, prepare for more traffic chaos due to Ottawa Race Weekend. CTV’s Josh Marano fills us in.
