A proposed multi-pit gold mine is sparking concern among members of the nearby Anishinaabe First Nation in Lac-Simon, who say the expansion puts local water systems and wildlife at risk. Advocates say the dispute reflects a larger problem with the regulations surrounding mining in Quebec.
Minister of Women and Gender Equality Rechie Valdez announced the investment of $173.7 million to help businesswomen access financial resources, training and mentorship.
