An Ottawa city councillor is raising concerns about the Department of National Defense exploring the use of sports fields for parking lots, a move largely seen as an attempt to ease parking congestion at the DND’s Carling Avenue campus. After 15 months of declines in Canadians travelling to the United States, new Statistics Canada data suggests the U.S. travel boycott is coming to an end. In May, Canadian return trips from the U.S. totalled 1.9 million, up 9.5 per cent from the same month in 2025 and the second consecutive month of year-over-year growth. The increase was driven by a rise in return trips by automobile (+15.1 per cent), while return trips from the U.S. by air in May remained below levels from the year before, falling 5.5 per cent last month. A former executive legal officer of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit alleging it is “a poisoned and systemically antisemitic environment.” The lawsuit, filed by Paul Koven, the interim general counsel for TDSB since January 2023, argues that the school board failed “to address rampant antisemitism affecting TDSB students and staff, while prioritizing other forms of racism,” the statement of claim, filed in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on May 19, reads. “The allegations being advanced are entirely without merit,” TDSB...
