Stuck in immigration limbo, single father misses financial aid judge says he deserves

Abdiweli Mohamed, an immigrant from Somalia, once received monthly payments through the Canada Child Benefit because his wife, the children's mother, is a Canadian citizen. But since his separation, Mohamed is no longer eligible to receive the benefit for his Canadian children because he's fallen into what a tax court judge has described as a crack in the legal system that's been "ignored" for 25 years.

Dr. Hedy Fry, an 11-term Liberal MP representing downtown Vancouver, says it’s only logical for the government to take thousands of empty condos off the hands of developers who can’t find buyers for them. “What would one suggest that we do with empty condos that could be converted into affordable housing by the government of Canada?” Fry told National Post. “(Should we) leave them empty and just go build a bunch (somewhere else)?”...
