Police officer from Brampton killed near Hearst, Ont., remembered as ‘courageous, selfless’

An Ontario Provincial Police constable killed in the line of duty near Hearst is being remembered as a “selfless” and “courageous” officer whose death has left communities grieving, including in Brampton where he was raised and in Kitchener where he worked before joining the OPP.

The force said in a post on X that at 5:42 a.m., police were conducting a search warrant near Trethewey and Black Creek drives when gunshots rang out.
