City seeks applicants for its 2026-2030 Election Compliance Audit Committee (ECAC).

June 16, 2026

The City of Ottawa is recruiting members for its 2026-2030 Election Compliance Audit Committee (ECAC).

The ECAC is an independent, statutory body established under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (MEA). It reviews applications for compliance audits of the campaign finances of candidates and registered third party advertisers. The ECAC also reviews reports from the City Clerk about apparent violations of contribution limits set out in the MEA.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of municipal election campaign finance rules and knowledge of accounting principles, and must not be involved in any municipal election campaigns. Ideal candidates would have practical experience in administering elections, with a specific focus on municipal election finance. Ideal candidates may include former municipal clerks or elections office managers, auditors, accountants, lawyers, or other individuals with knowledge of the campaign financing rules of the MEA.

The City of Ottawa is committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of its work, including the appointment process and appointments to public member committees. As such, the City urges Indigenous and racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women and gender diverse persons to apply. Please include, on a voluntary basis, how your lived experience and perspectives strengthen your application.  Applications must be received by Tuesday, July 14, at 4 pm.

For more information on the ECAC, member eligibility, and the application process, please visit ottawa.ca/ecac or contact Marcela Busnardo dos Santos at 613-580-2424, ext. 28642 or by email at committees@ottawa.ca.
