Smiths Falls, Ont., is officially opting out of a bring-your-own-alcohol program announced by the province in March after the town's council voted Monday not to amend its booze bylaw.

As of July 1, Ontarians age 45 and up are eligible to receive the at-home fecal immunochemical screening test — or FIT — that detects traces of blood in the stool.
