A proposed pause on new power-hungry data centres in Hamilton cleared a hurdle on Tuesday, the latest step in a growing pushback to Canada's buildout of AI infrastructure.

The program, earlier called the Canada Greener Homes Grant program, was first launched by the federal government in 2021, but lapsed in 2024.
