Advocates say Ottawa is ignoring safeguards required by a 2023 Supreme Court ruling, leaving asylum seekers vulnerable to detention and deportation after being denied entry at the border.

AC7664 was enroute from Newark to Halifax on Wednesday afternoon. The captain experienced a medical issue during the flight and it was diverted to Boston. Air Canada says it is working to help its 61 customers who were on the plane make new travel arrangements.
