Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is slamming a plan by the federal and B.C. governments to buy vacant Metro Vancouver condo units and turn them into affordable housing — a move he describes as a "bailout" that should be immediately cancelled.

The entire City of Kimberley has been placed under an evacuation alert as an out-of-control wildfire burns west of the East Kootenay community. The Regional District of East Kootenay has issued a separate evacuation alert for 66 properties stretching west from Kimberley because of two separate fires.
