Canada Day schedule changes

June 23, 2026
Garbage, transit, city services and more – all the holiday impacts you need to know.

The City would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes and City service impacts for the Canada Day holiday on Wednesday, July 1. 

Client Service Centres
  • The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only. Please visit ottawa.ca/311 to submit a service request online.
  • ServiceOttawa’s Client Services counters and phone lines will be closed. Counters are located at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive), Orléans (255 Centrum Boulevard) and West Carleton (5670 Carp Road).
  • The Provincial Court and Administrative Penalty System Hearing area located at Mary Pitt Centre (100 Constellation Drive) and the supporting counter and phone lines will be closed.
  • The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue will be closed.
  • The City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter Clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.
  • The City of Ottawa Archives at the James Bartleman Centre will be closed. 

 

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection
  • There will be no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Wednesday, July 1. Pickup will take place on Thursday, July 2. In addition, the collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
  • Residents can sign up to receive collection reminders and service alerts by email or phone call on our Collection Calendar page.
  • Multi-residential garbage containers and bulky items will be collected on their regular scheduled day, including on the holiday. Collections of multi-residential recycling containers and green bins will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
  • The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on Wednesday, July 1 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Parking
  • All City parking regulations apply.

 

Transit Services OC Transpo 

OC Transpo is the best way to travel to Canada Day events across the city, with free service all day presented by LiUNA Local 527 & 527A. Ride for free on all buses, trains and Para Transpo. Fare gates will be open—don’t tap your card!

  • OC Transpo buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4 will run on special Canada Day schedules.
  • O-Train Line 1 will run from 6 am to 2 am. O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will run from 7 am to 1 am.
  • Express shuttle buses will be running from 8 am to 8 pm for customers traveling from select Park & Ride lots to O-Train Line 1.
    • In the west end, shuttle buses will stop at Terry Fox and Eagleson stations and connect to Line 1 at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
    • In the east end, shuttle buses will stop at Millennium and Trim stations and connect to Line 1 at Blair Station.
  • Rural Shopper Route 303 will not run.
  • The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open on Wednesday, July 1 from 10 am to 6 pm.     
  • The OC Transpo Lost and Found at St-Laurent Station will be closed on Wednesday, July 1. Customers can submit an inquiry about a lost item online.
  • Use the Travel Planner or Transit, the recommended app for OC Transpo customers, to plan your trip. 

 

Para Transpo
  • Regular bookings or recurring trips for Wednesday, July 1, are automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Canada Day using My Para Transpo, or by calling 613-560-5000.
  • Para Transpo customers can also text 57272 to connect with customer service representatives from 6 am to 9 pm for cancellations or information. Standard rates apply.
  • The reservations line will be open from 7 am to 5 pm.
  • The trip cancellation line will be open from 6 am to 3 am.
  • The Taxi Coupon line will be closed.

Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services
  • Outdoor pools, wading pools and splash pads will be open with modified schedules.
  • Many recreation centres will be closed, but others will have altered hours and changes to drop-in schedules. Please check the facility pages for details.
  • City-operated museums, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, and Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.
  • The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, the Karsh-Masson Gallery, and the City Hall Art Gallery will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.
  • Gallery 112 at the James Bartleman Centre will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.

 

Ottawa Public Health

 

Employment and Social Services
  • All four Employment and Social Services offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 1:
    • 370 Catherine Street
    • 2339 Ogilvie Road
    • 100 Constellation Drive
    • 2020 Walkley Road

 

Municipal child care services

 

Ottawa Public Library
  • All branches of Ottawa Public Library (including Bookmobile, Home Services and InfoService) will be closed on Wednesday, July 1. Digital content, services, and program listings are available through the Ottawa Public Library website. Virtual programs are available on OPL’s YouTube channel. Regular hours resume on Thursday, July 2.
