First Nation demands Carney apology amid 60-year mercury crisis

Grassy Narrows First Nation is demanding an apology from Prime Minister Mark Carney, and for a paper mill linked to mercury contamination to be closed. Protesters say the Dryden paper mill, which dumped about nine tonnes of mercury into the English-Wabigoon River System in the 1960s and '70s, continues to pollute their community's water system.
The Canadian Forces concluded that military personnel involved in two controversial organizations supposed to be helping Ukraine were misguided and in some cases wrong in their actions. Read More

I celebrated Canada Day in Ottawa for the first time in 1982. I remember the sea of flags everywhere and on all government buildings. The atmosphere for the celebration on the Hill was fantastic. What has happened to this patriotism since then? I drove through the city last Saturday. Hardly any flags on the buildings or houses. Where is our pride? Or do we only show our pride during parades and protests or soccer games? Just saying. Read More
