When Nancy Griffin parked her vehicle at the Oshawa GO station on March 25, she expected a routine trip to and from Toronto. Instead, she says she found herself at the centre of a months-long ordeal involving a stolen vehicle, confusing bureaucracy, and a parking ticket for a car she no longer possessed.

The province's latest numbers suggest fires have burned through more than 7,250 square kilometres of Ontario's forest, surpassing the previous record set in 2021. Most of the burning has been in the past 10 days, and the forecast for August suggests much of northern Ontario could remain hotter and drier than normal.
