Air Canada halts, delays several flight routes to U.S. destinations amid high fuel costs

Air Canada is once again scaling back flights to the U.S. amid high jet fuel costs and lower demand for trips south of the border. Air Canada, WestJet and Air Transat all made cuts to their summer flight capacity to the U.S. earlier this year as the Iran war sent jet fuel prices soaring.

The union representing close to 4,400 flight attendants at WestJet say they have issued a 72-hour strike notice to the airline, to which WestJet responded with a lockout notice.

A WestJet flight attendant strike at the peak of travel and tourist season is one step closer after the union representing the 4,400 workers issued its 72-hour strike notice early Thursday morning.
