Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Mon. July 6th, 2026

July 6, 2026

Kristy Cameron has returned from vacation, as Canada’s Capital continues to clean up Mother Nature’s mess from last week. The Canada Day flooding has impacted almost 4,500 homes – an alarming statistic when you consider that the 2019 floods ravaged nearly 2,000 homes. And now, several local councillors and MPPs have penned an open letter to the province, calling on the Ford government to make disaster relief funding available for residents. College Ward councillor Laine Johnson joins the program in Hour 1. Meantime, thousands of federal public servants have officially switched to a new work schedule, which now requires them to be in the office 4 days per week. However, Canada’s unions continue to protest the new office mandates, and are calling on the feds to release the rationale for the move. CTV’s Kimberley Johnson has more on that. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
