A string of unrelenting and unforgiving thunderstorms slammed straight into the National Capital Region on Canada Day, as 118 millimetres of rain fell from the sky. The endless downpour cancelled a string of Canada Day activities and left over 3,200 basements flooded. Less than a week later, lots of basements in Canada's Capital are still waterlogged. And in the case of a significant weather event, what should you do if you’re waiting around in a waterlogged property? Rob de Pruis is the National Director of Consumer and Industry Relations at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. He joins Kristy Cameron on today's Ottawa Now.
