Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. June 11th, 2026

June 11, 2026

After multiple delays, the Gordie Howe International Bridge was supposed to open this weekend. However, that is no longer the case, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony has been delayed indefinitely. We bring you the latest developments in Hour 1. Meantime, our city is sending out thousands of invitations to its Canada Day parade, an invite that applies to everywhere except the ByWard Market. That’s because of temporary closures to accommodate the installation and construction of Carré ByWard Square – closures that will last for 17 days. And to the surprise of nobody, several businesses in the area are far from impressed. David Mangano, the co-owner of The Grand Pizzeria on George Street, offers his two cents on the matter. Plus, it’s bloody hot out there as we inch closer to the weekend! How long will this heatwave last? We check in with Doug Gillham of The Weather Network.
