Woman whose horses starved near North Battleford, Sask., prohibited from having animals for life

Ellen Haudeck was in court in North Battleford on Wednesday to learn her sentence after being convicted of criminally neglecting animals in her care. She received a four-month conditional sentence order followed by 20 months of probation.

The City is Ottawa is pushing to preserve the property at 575 Island Park Cres. as its owner, the Government of Ethiopia, seeks demolition. The Ethiopian government has said the property has faced decades of neglect and is now in a state of disrepair. The house is also part of a community push to obtain heritage status for the entire area.
