Leaders of First Nations hit by Ontario wildfires speak out about way climate crises are handled

With about 600 Eabametoong First Nation members at the centre of another evacuation due to northern Ontario wildfires, community leaders speak out about what makes First Nations more vulnerable to such crises. “The conditions in which they are dealing with, just in terms of air quality, are already poor — and there's very little fire support there, too," says Riley Yesno, an Eabametoong member.
Three years after the federal government formally launched its national climate adaptation strategy, the Canadian Climate Institute suggests there is little sign any of progress.
