1 in 10 emergency physicians leaving Canadian ERs, national survey suggests

One out of every 10 emergency physicians in Canada have left their specialty, while the vast majority of others are reducing their hours or taking time off to manage burnout. The findings, part of a study out Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, are based on a 2025 cross-country survey of hundreds of emergency medicine doctors.
The Ontario government says the wildfire situation is currently moving in a 'reassuring direction' with 80 fires extinguished in the past two weeks.
