New data from the Ottawa Police Service shows a spike in charges for shoplifting and theft, with Downtown Ottawa serving as the focal point. And if you work at a grocery store, or at the LCBO, you might be the primary target. Joining us in Hour 2 is John Mills, a Downtown Ottawa resident who has noticed a spike in thefts over the last few weeks. Meantime, a drop-in centre in Sandy Hill is relocating. That would be Centre 454, which is currently located on King Edward Avenue. Kristy Cameron checks in with Shauna Marie-Young, the Executive Director of Belong Ottawa. The number of Americans seeking Canadian citizenship certificates continues to surge, with new data suggesting almost half of people approved for proof of citizenship since December were born in the U.S. A recent update on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website reads: “Applications for Canadian citizenship certificates are rising rapidly across the globe, driven in large part by thousands of requests submitted from the United States. Following a change in the law, the volume of submissions has grown substantially, putting pressure on federal processing streams...

A collision on a highway west of Ottawa on Sunday has left both drivers dead. It happened shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Highway 62 near Bancroft, about 220 kilometres from Ottawa.
