Summer may be halfway through, but Ottawa 200 celebrations are still going strong

The City of Ottawa and Ottawa Tourism are supporting commemorative events for all ages throughout Ottawa to mark Bytown’s 200th anniversary. 

Ottawa will officially celebrate its 200th anniversary on Saturday, September 26 with the free, all ages Ottawa 200 Block Party at Marion Dewar Plaza.

With support from local event producers, creatives and community organizations, Ottawa 200 is bringing residents and visitors together through memorable experiences that showcase the city’s history, culture and vibrant spirit. The Corn Maze Festival

• August 1 to 30 | 10 am
• Saunders Farm, 7893 Bleeks Road, Ottawa
• Featuring winding paths, storytelling elements and cultural themes, visitors are invited to explore the city’s journey in an engaging and creative way. 

 NOICE! A Night of Inuit Excellence

• August 1 | Time: 7 pm
• Club SAW, 67 Nicholas Street, Ottawa
• Circumpolar Inuit musicians and artists come together for a rare evening of traditional and contemporary performances. Featuring katajjaq (throat singing), pisiit (traditional songs), qilaujjaq (drum dance) and live collaboration — presented by Qamaniq Records.

Findlay Creek Community Fun Day

• August 3 | Time: 11 am
• Diamond Jubilee Park, 2810 Findlay Creek Drive, Ottawa
• A family‑friendly day featuring heritage programming, interactive displays, youth art activities and community celebrations reflecting Findlay Creek’s connection to Ottawa’s history. 

Greater Avalon Community Association – Summer FunFest

• August 15 | Time: 10 am
• Aquaview Community Hall, 318 Aquaview Drive, Ottawa
• A sustainability‑focused community festival incorporating historic games, heritage displays, environmental education and Ottawa 200 themed-programming. 

SoundScape Festival

• August 27 to September 26
• Plaza Bridge, Rideau, Elgin and Wellington streets
• For four weeks, SoundScape will transform the historic Plaza Bridge into an immersive music and arts festival. Register now for the first event on August 27. 

Riverview Park Community Association – Summer Carnival & Movie Night 

• Sunday, August 29 | Time: 6:30 pm
• Balena Park, 1640 Devon Street

A family‑friendly evening event featuring games, food, historical displays and community art celebrating Riverview Park’s history. 

Bytown 1826–2026 : 200 ans de racines, de rencontres et de communauté

• August 29 | 9 am
• Centre Pauline-Charron, 164 Jeanne-Mance Street, Ottawa
• A francophone, intergenerational civic celebration featuring historical storytelling, participatory activities, cultural programming and community meals.

Ottawa REDBLACKS Bytown Bicentennial game 

• Sunday, August 30 | 7 pm
• The Stadium at TD Place, Ottawa
