WestJet to begin parking planes ahead of possible strike

July 31, 2026

WestJet says it's still bargaining with flight attendants in hopes of a deal, but the company is beginning to keep planes on the ground as a necessary measure to protect travellers and their operations. In two internal emails from WestJet obtained by CBC News, the airline says it offered substantial wage increases and compensation for duties before and after flights to its flight attendants.
