The Regional District of East Kootenay voted 12-3 to stop changing clocks twice a year and stay on Mountain Daylight Time, keeping the region aligned with Alberta year-round.

The vote is taking place in three ridings across the country, one in B.C., another in Ontario and a third in Quebec following the resignations of their MPs.
