August 16, 2026
Blue-green algae is being monitored by researchers across Alberta, and the public can follow along from anywhere through a new website. The Algal Bloom Tracker lets users track toxic algal blooms at six Alberta lakes through satellite imagery, providing near real-time results that can be viewed on a free-to-use map.
Environment Canada has dropped its warnings for Nova Scotia, but there is still more rain in the forecast after flooding and widespread damage was reported.
