Toxic algae outbreaks in Alberta can now be tracked online through satellite imagery

Blue-green algae is being monitored by researchers across Alberta, and the public can follow along from anywhere through a new website. The Algal Bloom Tracker lets users track toxic algal blooms at six Alberta lakes through satellite imagery, providing near real-time results that can be viewed on a free-to-use map.
Highway 401 was closed in both directions Wednesday night near Gananoque, Ont., following a collision involving several vehicles, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
