Ottawa Now - Despite a recent drop in car thefts, 8-in-10 Canadians feel their vehicles remain a magnet for car thieves

July 21, 2026

A new survey shows that 8-in-10 Canadians feel their vehicles are vulnerable to theft, despite a recent drop in car thefts nationwide. Experts say that a takedown in modern organized crime requires high-tech prevention, and most Canadians are calling on the feds to mandate stronger anti-theft technology in all new vehicles.
